Asus Just Launched a 610Hz Gaming Monitor — Because 500Hz Wasn’t Enough

There’s fast, and then there’s what-is-even-happening fast. Asus just dropped the ROG Strix XG248Q5G-P, a 24.1-inch esports-focused gaming monitor that obliterates the ceiling on refresh rates — pushing all the way to an astonishing 610Hz in overclocked mode. Priced at 7,999 yuan (roughly $1,094), this monitor isn’t for the casual crowd. It’s a weapon tailor-made for the elite tier of competitive players chasing every millisecond.

At the heart of the XG248Q5G-P is a custom-engineered Super TN panel — a new take on the tried-and-true technology that prioritizes ultra-low input latency and blinding speed over wider viewing angles or deep contrast. While TN has often been seen as a compromise, Asus seems determined to rewrite that narrative. This panel still delivers 90% DCI-P3 color coverage, which is impressive for the technology, and it pairs that with a mind-bending 0.1ms response time.

Asus hasn’t just cranked the refresh rate and called it a day. The monitor ships with three selectable refresh modes — 240Hz, 480Hz, and the maxed-out 610Hz overclock — giving players flexibility depending on their setup or game of choice. Nvidia G-Sync compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium support are both baked in, ensuring that variable refresh rate tech keeps gameplay smooth across the board.

But speed alone isn’t enough anymore. Asus has layered on a suite of smart tools: dual backlight strobing for motion clarity, AI Vision for dynamic scene optimization, and ROG Gaming AI enhancements that include on-screen crosshairs and shadow boosting for tactical advantage. This is a display built to think alongside its user.

Connectivity is as modern as you’d expect — DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C with Power Delivery, and a standard 3.5mm audio jack. Asus is also bundling the monitor with a flexible arm mount.

Alongside this speed demon, Asus also rolled out the ROG Strix XG32UCG—a 32-inch dual-mode gaming monitor that can switch between ultra-sharp 4K at 160Hz and silky-smooth Full HD at 320Hz. It uses a Fast IPS panel, supports HDR10, and hits a fast 0.3ms response time. Like its smaller sibling, it’s packed with AI enhancements, wide connectivity options, and customizable RGB lighting via Aura Sync.
