Tecno officially reveals Spark 40 Pro+ chipset nearly two months before launch

MediaTek just announced the Helio G200, its latest 4G chipset, and now we know where it’ll land first: Tecno’s upcoming Spark 40 Pro+. According to the company, the new phone will be the first to ship with the G200 under the hood. The Spark 40 series is launching globally in July.

The G200 doesn’t bring 5G to the table, but MediaTek seems to be doubling down on squeezing more out of 4G. The chip features an octa-core setup with two Cortex-A76 performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz.

Helio G200 in Spark 40 Pro+ delivers 10% improvement

Tecno claims the SoC pulls in a score of around 470,000 on AnTuTu, which it says is roughly a 10% improvement over the previous generation.

Graphics see a modest bump, too. The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU now clocks at 1.1GHz, compared to 1.0GHz on the Helio G99 and G100. Tecno says that translates to a 10% gain in single-core GPU performance.

One of the more interesting additions here is support for what Tecno calls DC SAR, short for Dynamic Communication Smart Adaptive Response. In plain terms, it improves network reliability and efficiency when signal conditions are less than ideal.

Aside from this, the Helio G200 doesn’t bring any massive upgrade over the last-gen Helio G100, or even the Helio G99, for that matter. We have a separate story talking about the differences (or rather, should we say similarities) of these chips. You can check it out here.

Tecno hasn’t shared full specs for the Spark 40 Pro+ yet. It’s nearly two months to go before launch, so the company will likely start dropping teasers in the coming weeks. We’ll keep an eye out and update you as more details surface.
