Swann’s latest smart doorbell has finally landed in the UK… and this one can actually talk back.
The new EVO Wireless Video Doorbell is the first to ship with SwannShield, the company’s AI-powered voice assistant that aims to out-chat the competition.
Unlike the canned responses you get from most doorbells, SwannShield uses generative AI to hold natural conversations with whoever’s on your doorstep.
SwannShield was announced back in October last year but the new EVO doorbell is the first device launched in the UK to boast the tech.
There are plenty of smart video doorbells out there already that let you choose voice responses when someone comes calling, or even let you record pre-set messages to play when the button is pressed, but SwannShield is a first in terms of putting an actual AI bot on board to be your virtual gatekeeper.
SwannShield uses adaptive AI to manage real-time interactions, providing intelligent responses that react dynamically based on the situation at hand – think telling a delivery person to leave a parcel in a particular place or with a certain neighbour, but after it has asked the caller where they are from exactly first.

Swann tells us that SwannShield uses natural, human-like interactions to have conversations, with a “realistic voice” with 8 accents and 3 demeanours to choose from, and it can communicate with users in 100 auto-detected languages.
The hardware on the EVO Wireless Video Doorbell itself ticks most of the boxes: you get 2K video, a 140° field of view, night vision up to 5m, motion and heat detection, and two-way audio via the app.
There’s also a portable indoor chime with six ringtones, and a slot for a MicroSD card (up to 256GB) so you can ditch the cloud subscription fees entirely.
The EVO Wireless Video Doorbell is available now, direct from Swann, with a wider rollout across the UK and Ireland coming soon.
At £89.99, it’s pretty budget-friendly, and the SwannShield AI comes included at no extra cost.
