Aqara is finally getting serious about smart blinds. The Chinese company has just announced a collaboration with A-OK, a veteran in the motorized shading world, to launch a full suite of Matter-compatible window coverings designed for both homes and pro installs.
If you’ve been holding out for automated curtains or pergola shades that actually play nice with your Aqara smart home setup, beyond the fairly basic Roller Shade Driver E1 that went live a few years back, this is obviously welcome news.
The move gives A-OK’s products a connectivity upgrade, thanks to Aqara’s smarts baked right in.
That means support for Matter out of the box, with native integration across Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Homey and Home Assistant.
Aqara tells us it will be working with A-OK on a range of motorized coverings including awnings, curtains, external Venetian blinds, interior blinds, pergolas, roller shutters and zig screen blinds.
Beyond just being remote-controllable, the new shades will also work with automation triggers; think light sensors, temperature readings, or motion detection, to do things like close your EVBs when the sun’s blazing or adjust your interior blinds as the room heats up.

You can also build scenes too, whether it’s “movie night” or a “wake-up” routine with morning sun and a slow rise on the blinds.
Aqara says the duo is also working on a custom app for A-OK users, so people who want more granular control or aren’t tied to one of the big smart home platforms can still get a solid app experience.
There are no details on launch details yet, but the two companies will be showing off their co-developed lineup at R+T Asia in Shanghai this week (May 26–28).
