Dirac says its Live Active Room Treatment (ART) will be available on AudioControl’s new Hyperion line of home theater processors and receivers. The series targets professional calibrators and custom installers and begins rolling out in September 2025. Hyperion is AudioControl’s first series to include the full Dirac Live suite: Active Room Treatment, Room Correction, and Bass Control.

What ART Does

Introduced in 2023, Dirac Live ART is described by the company as a professional-grade smart‑acoustics add‑on to the Dirac Live platform. Dirac says ART turns a system’s existing speakers into a unified control network that manages low‑frequency resonances, shortens decay, and improves bass consistency across seats, even in asymmetrical or minimally treated rooms. The company adds that ART leverages its patented MIMO processing to coordinate speakers in the time domain. Dirac also cites a third‑party review reporting “tighter bass, improved clarity, and a more immersive audio nirvana.”

Models and Availability

The first Hyperion model to support Dirac Live ART is the APR‑16, a 16‑channel preamp/processor scheduled to launch in Q4 2025. Additional Hyperion models, the RCV‑11 AV receiver and the DPR‑16 digital preamp/processor, are slated to add ART later in 2025.

Dirac Live Suite

Beyond ART, Hyperion is the first AudioControl series to bundle compatibility with Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Bass Control. Dirac describes Room Correction as optimizing magnitude and phase to solve issues traditional hardware can’t address efficiently, while Bass Control co‑optimizes subwoofers and speakers using machine learning to deliver smoother, more consistent bass across the listening area.

Each Hyperion model will ship “Dirac Live Ready,” with built‑in compatibility for the Dirac Live calibration/optimization suite. Licenses for specific Dirac Live modules can be purchased and activated by professional integrators to match user preferences and system requirements.

What the Companies Say

“Dirac Live Active Room Treatment is pushing the boundaries of residential audio performance,” said Fredric Tapper, Dirac’s Vice President and Head of Business Development. “Through our collaboration with AudioControl, we’re bringing this … technology to the professional installation community … With Hyperion, customers can now experience the full potential of their home theaters, regardless of space or speaker layout.”

“Hyperion is the ultimate expression of our commitment to sonic excellence,” said Juha Nurminen, Chief Engineering Officer for AVPro. “We designed it specifically for today’s professional integrators and custom installers … With the full Dirac Live suite … we’re giving our customers more audio precision, flexibility, and control than ever before.”

See It at CEDIA

AudioControl’s Hyperion APR‑16 will be demonstrated at CEDIA Expo 2025 in Denver, September 4–6, in the AVPro booth (#1501).
