TEAC has announced the PD-507T, a CD transport for its Reference 500 Series, designed to feed external DACs via coaxial or optical output. U.S. MSRP is $1,699.99, with EU and UK pricing at €1,299 and £1,299. Availability is slated for Q4 2025 on TEACUSA.com and through select dealers.
The transport is built around TEAC’s in‑house CD mechanism derived from the broadcast‑proven CD‑5020A. By omitting onboard D/A conversion, the PD‑507T is positioned as a digital‑only source for systems with DACs, including TEAC’s UD‑507 discrete DAC/preamplifier/headphone amp. TEAC attributes its performance to the combination of the mechanism, a semi‑floating mount, and a dedicated drive circuit.
New to this model: users can disable unused digital outputs. TEAC also splits power rails—separate supplies for the clock and for digital output—and says refinements to circuitry and mechanical construction raise performance over prior transports. A 10MHz BNC input allows clock sync with TEAC’s CG‑10M‑X master clock. The front panel uses an amber full‑dot OLED display. Trigger in/through terminals can integrate the transport into system power‑control schemes.
Under the lid, the PD‑507T uses a toroidal‑core transformer and independent rectifier circuits for the disc motor/pickup and for the clock/digital output stages. TEAC lists its “Stress‑Less” isolation feet and a semi‑floating top panel among the vibration‑control measures, claims that the company says enhance focus and preserve timbre.
Connectivity includes one coaxial and one optical S/PDIF output. Control and playback features cover normal, repeat (track/album), shuffle, random, program play, power‑on play, display dimmer, auto power save, and a 12V trigger in/through. The included remote is the RC‑1338. Finish options are silver or black.
