DJI has joined the Connectivity Standards Alliance, signalling that its premium ROMO robot vacuums could soon gain Matter support, a move that would boost interoperability and appeal to Apple Home users.
DJI enters the Smart Home Alliance
DJI, best known for drones and aerial imaging, has officially joined the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA).
The timing is notable, coming just months after the company unveiled its ROMO robot vacuum series in China. Membership in the CSA positions DJI to integrate Matter, the universal smart home standard backed by Apple, Google, and Amazon, into future devices.
Matter and robot vacuums
Matter 1.2 added support for robotic vacuums in late 2023, opening the door for brands to deliver seamless integration across ecosystems.
Rivals such as Roborock, Dreame, and Ecovacs already offer Matter-compatible models, making DJI’s move essential to remain competitive. For Chinese consumers, Matter certification is increasingly seen as a gateway to Apple Home, while global buyers value the privacy and interoperability it ensures.

DJI has not confirmed whether existing ROMO vacuums will receive firmware updates or if Matter support will debut in new models.
Industry watchers suggest that partnerships with solution providers like Tuya could accelerate certification. Based on CSA membership timelines, Matter-enabled DJI vacuums could arrive by mid-2026, but that’s far from confirmed right now.
The ROMO series
DJI’s ROMO lineup showcases drone-derived navigation technology. Each model uses binocular fisheye sensors and three wide-angle LiDAR units to avoid obstacles, even in low light. The vacuums claim millimetre-level precision, tackling tricky corners with dual mechanical arms.
A standout feature is the “zero-tangle” dual roller brush system, designed to eliminate hair buildup.
The docking station also features a high-pressure self-cleaning system, aiming to automate maintenance for months at a time. Consumers can choose between three versions:
| Model | Design | Price (yuan) | Price (USD, converted) |
| ROMO S | White robot and base | 4,699 | $657.86 |
| ROMO A | Transparent robot, white station | 5,399 | $775.41 |
| ROMO P | Fully transparent robot and station | 6,799 | $976.47 |

What this means for consumers
DJI’s entry into the CSA strengthens Matter’s ecosystem and hints at a future where its vacuums integrate seamlessly with Apple Home and other platforms.
This could mean easier setup, broader compatibility, and more reliable smart home experiences. While DJI remains quiet on its roadmap, the ROMO series already positions itself as a premium contender, and Matter support would only enhance its appeal.
