Huawei has launched the Huawei Mobile Router 5 in China as a compact and versatile networking solution for users who do not want a fixed broadband connection. The device is priced at 329 yuan ($46) and is available in two versions: a standard edition and a SkyPass edition with additional data services.

Huawei Mobile Router 5 Specifications
The Mobile Router 5 supports Wi-Fi 4 and offers three internet modes. It can convert a mobile network to Wi-Fi, a mobile network to a wired connection, or a wired network to Wi-Fi. Huawei is targeting home offices, student dorms, retail shops, rural areas, and industrial warehouses with this flexibility.
The router includes a nano-SIM slot for direct 4G connectivity. It features dual 100 Mbps Ethernet ports, allowing simultaneous wired connections for devices such as PCs and surveillance systems. The device uses HPUE (High Power User Equipment) technology to boost signal coverage by up to 30 percent compared to regular devices, which improves performance in low-signal areas such as basements or dense urban environments.

Huawei claims peak speeds of 195 Mbps for mobile networks and 300 Mbps for Wi-Fi connections. The router can connect up to 32 devices at once, supporting smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other wireless gadgets.
The Huawei Smart Life app manages the network, allowing users to track data usage, monitor signal strength, set monthly data limits, and optimize router placement. It also offers WPA3 encryption, device blacklists and whitelists, and Huawei’s HomeSec for threat protection, along with a guest Wi-Fi option for visitors.
The router features wall-penetration, standard, and sleep Wi-Fi modes for performance and power control, along with security tools like brute-force protection, malicious activity blocking, and one-tap removal of unknown devices.
The SkyPass version includes 5GB of free data for seven days. Huawei offers a monthly plan for 99 yuan ($14) and an annual plan for 599 yuan ($83).
In related news, D-Link recently introduced the R95, M95, and G572 Wi-Fi 7 routers with AI capabilities and tri-band speeds. TP-Link has also unveiled its first Wi-Fi 7 travel router, the TL-WR3602BE, offering 3600Mbps speeds and USB-C power.
