Lava has introduced a new budget device under its Shark series—the Shark 5G—a modest update to the 4G variant it launched earlier this year. As the name suggests, the headline upgrade here is 5G connectivity, but little else seems to have changed.
Lava Shark 5G Specifications
The Shark 5G features a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. Unlike its predecessor’s punch-hole design, this one goes with a waterdrop notch that houses a 5MP selfie camera.

On the back, there’s a single 13MP main camera, with no secondary sensor in sight. You get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the power button, and there’s IP54 dust and splash resistance.
Under the hood is the Unisoc T765 chipset, a modest upgrade over the 4G model’s T606 processor. It’s paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD. The phone retains a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging.
Perhaps the most notable change is the jump to Android 15 out of the box, while the 4G model launched earlier this year still ships with Android 14. That said, other core features like the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD support remain unchanged.

Compared to the earlier Lava Shark (non-5G), the new model dials down a few aspects to accommodate the added network support. The older 4G variant had a 120Hz refresh rate, a higher-res 50MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing shooter. So while you’re getting 5G here, some trade-offs are apparent.
Price and Availability
Lava has priced the Shark 5G at ₹7,999 (around $93) for the sole 4/64Gb model. It comes in Stellar Gold and Stellar Blue and is available now via Lava’s online store and retail outlets across India.
