The CR106 integrates analog and digital inputs, zone-specific configuration options, and compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers and speakers. Control is handled via the McIntosh Connect app (iOS/Android), a web interface, or onboard front-panel controls—no programming required. Users can assign sources, group zones, adjust subwoofer settings, and save zone presets under the “Experiences” feature for quick recall.
Each of the six zones features dual unbalanced outputs and dedicated subwoofer outs, with support for four analog and four digital inputs. For larger installs, up to five CR106 units can be networked via Dante for a total of 30 zones.
Bluetooth streaming is built in, with support for AAC, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive. Power control triggers allow the CR106 to sync with other McIntosh components for coordinated on/off operation. Rack installation is straightforward: the unit takes up 2U of space, and mounting brackets are included.
For homeowners and integrators building distributed systems with in-wall or ceiling speakers, the CR106 offers a centralized solution that keeps control and connectivity simple while maintaining sound quality. An optional MIP200 Power Controller adds electrical protection to the system.
