Nothing has officially confirmed it’s working on a pair of over-ear headphones, adding another product category to its growing audio portfolio. Following a recent partnership with high-end audio company KEF, Nothing revealed that several new audio products are in development—and many of them, including the headphones, are expected to launch later this year.
In a newly released video, the company confirmed the development of its first-ever over-ear headphones, following up on rumors that began circulating in February. At the time, a pair of wireless headphones with the model number B170 were certified by SGS Fimko, fueling speculation that Nothing would soon enter the premium audio space.
Interestingly, the idea may have been in the works for much longer. Nothing CEO Carl Pei shared fan-made concept designs of over-ear headphones back in October 2022. Those early mockups appear to have influenced the direction of the final product, with Nothing now committing to a design-first approach that aligns with the company’s aesthetic.
The upcoming headphones are expected to feature a standout design that aims to visually differentiate users. Nothing’s design team found current market offerings uninspiring and is working to create a product that’s both visually expressive and functional. This includes distinct, easy-to-recognize buttons to improve usability without needing to look or fumble while wearing the headset.
Nothing also claims that the sound quality will be among the best available at the price point. The company suggests that users switching from a premium product like Apple’s AirPods Max to its upcoming headphones won’t be disappointed—despite the likely price difference.
The official launch is expected this summer, possibly alongside the anticipated Nothing Phone (3), which would make for a compelling product duo. With a strong focus on design, performance, and price, Nothing’s over-ear headphones could shake up the space if they live up to the hype.
