OnePlus is working on a new gaming-centric series: gaming triggers, larger batteries expected

OnePlus appears to be gearing up for a new venture—this time, with a focus squarely on gamers. According to a fresh leak, the company is developing a new smartphone series designed specifically for mobile gaming. It will include flagship chips, gaming triggers, and other features geared toward an immersive experience.

The news comes from tipster @heyitsyogesh on X. While details are still limited, the series is expected to pack top-tier hardware—likely Qualcomm’s or MediaTek’s latest and best. It’s said to be paired with larger batteries, which, to be fair, is expected from a gaming-centric smartphone lineup from China in 2025 and beyond.

While the existing Ace series is already great at handling big titles — the Ace 3V came on top in AnTuTu’s October rankings last year — the built-in shoulder triggers, like those seen on the Infinix GT 30 Pro and Nubia RedMagic series, will differentiate this new gaming-centric series from the existing performance-centric OnePlus devices.

There’s also speculation about custom cooling systems and high-refresh-rate AMOLED displays, though exact specs remain under wraps for now.

The upcoming series is still in the research and development phase, and according to the tipster, it’s expected to launch only in China initially. That approach lines up with OnePlus’s past strategy of testing experimental devices at home—similar to its Ace series—before considering a global rollout.

Pricing and model names haven’t leaked yet, but the phones will likely sit above the Nord series and compete with gaming-oriented flagships like the RedMagic 10 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. OnePlus is also working on OxygenOS 16, expected next year, which could introduce software tweaks and a new design language tailored to gaming use.

While it’s unclear if this gamer-focused lineup will ever make it out of China, OnePlus has shown before that strong demand can influence global plans.
