A couple of days ago, we covered a leak that revealed a few specs and features of the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5. Now, another report might have revealed the chipset that will power this mid-range device. This model could also debut in the global market as the POCO X8 Pro, so here’s everything you need to know.
This new Dimensity chip could power the Redmi Turbo 5/POCO X8 Pro
In our previous report, known tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the Redmi Turbo 5 may sport a 6.6-inch display with a 1.5K resolution. The screen will reportedly have curved corners with a metal middle frame surrounding this panel. But in a latest leak from Yogesh Brar, the Redmi Turbo 5 might pack a new MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC.

This makes sense considering the Redmi Turbo 4 and POCO X7 Pro pack the Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset. To recall, Redmi Turbo 5 will likely debut in the global market as the POCO X8 Pro. So this leak may have just revealed the processor powering the POCO X8 Pro. In his tweet, Brar also adds that the brand is also planning a big shift away from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, but this isn’t related to these upcoming devices.
It is unclear what this shift refers to, as Xiaomi and Qualcomm have a long-standing relationship for chips powering many of the brand’s smartphones. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report at the moment, so stick around for more.
