SwitchBot Lock Ultra Vision Combo goes live alongside new Hub 3

SwitchBot is back with a pair of new launches that push the boundaries of smart home retrofitting: the SwitchBot Lock Ultra Vision Combo, which is the world’s first retrofit smart lock with built-in 3D facial recognition; and the SwitchBot Hub 3, a new Matter-capable hub designed to bridge the gap between SwitchBot gear and the rest of your smart home.

Starting with the Lock Ultra Vision Combo and, as the name suggests, it’s a system that includes the Lock Ultra itself (which was unveiled back in January at CES) alongside the new Keypad Vision…with a Matter-ready Hub Mini thrown in too.

It’s the Keypad Vision that provides the smarts for the facial recognition system, using more than 30,000 infrared points to build a precise 3D map of your face, in order to unlock your door in under a second, with a false recognition rate of just 0.0001%.

All of that data stays local, encrypted with AES-128, and still works in the dark thanks to built-in IR lighting.

In total, there are 18 ways to get the Lock Ultra Vision Combo open, including facial recognition, fingerprints, auto-unlock via Bluetooth, NFC cards, voice control, and more.

The lock is also designed to be near-universally compatible; SwitchBot says it fits 99.9% of existing locks without drilling, including Night Latch and Jimmy Proof setups.

The hardware has been upgraded from the Lock Pro; the new motor is over 120% faster and a bit stronger than the previous model, and it operates as quietly as 20dB. There’s even a Night Mode for ultra-quiet locking during bedtime hours.

Battery life, from a rechargeable battery is 9 to 12 months, and there’s a backup CR123A cell, as well as an electrolytic emergency unlock system too.

It’s available on SwitchBot’s online store, as well as Amazon (where you can get 15% off for a launch period using the code 15OFFBW522) for $249.99 in the US, with pricing set at £299.99 in the UK.

A slightly cheaper Touch Combo (which skips the facial recognition) is also available for $209.99/£249.99.

Alongside the lock, SwitchBoy has also taken the covers off of the SwitchBot Hub 3, which broke cover a few weeks back.

The Hub 3 is Matter-enabled and can bridge over 100,000 IR-based devices, like your old TV or sound system, into platforms like Apple Home.

It also supports up to 30 programmable scenes that can include Matter-compatible gear from other brands.

Its standout feature looks to be that clever knob, which goes by the official name of the Dial Master rotary controller.

It will let you do things like adjust volume, lighting, or temperature with physical precision. There are also customizable buttons, real-time indoor/outdoor environmental monitoring, and support for automations based on built-in sensors; ideal for setting up energy-saving routines or comfort-based triggers.

The Hub 3 is also available direct from SwitchBot and Amazon for $119.99 / £129.99.
