President Donald Trump’s tariff roller coaster has had many unexpected effects, including risking the sexual relations industry and potentially deepening smartphones. But to encourage the increase in tariffs against China, the recent strange show from its UU’s decisions, which is the good news for a lesser -known app called DH Gate.
According to an analyst firm sensor tower, this week the app shot near the upper part of the App Store chart. Its success (practically) is overnight: Last week it couldn’t even do 100 famous apps on Apple’s rating.
But what is it, why is it popular – and probably most importantly, do you use it? The DH Gate’s Media Relations team did not immediately respond to the wired request for participation in the story, but e -commerce experts have shared their thoughts with us.
What is DHGate, and where did it come from?
Since 2004, DH Gate has helped foreign buyers connect with Chinese manufacturers. Its name is a reference to the beginning of Dinhong, once famous for its role in China’s ancient silk road trade route.
“I remember that I used to buy imported DVDs of Chinese films that you can’t buy anywhere else,” says Arnold MA, founder and CEO of Queman, a British -based marketing agency, which specializes in Chinese e -commerce expert and Chinese audience. “He has always been a B2B business, but before Alibaba became popular, for world traders to get stock from China cheap and bulk.”
It was based on the company, DH Gate Group, founded by business and former Microsoft and Sisco employee Wang Schutwing, and since then it has become a state of being: By the end of 2023, 77 million registered buyers in almost every country and region of the world, of which about 10 million are purchased in China. However, some of these claims should be taken with a pinch of salt. Clearly, DH Gate claims that buyers are located in more “countries and regions” than in the world’s countries.
Why is Degate popular now?
In response to Donald Trump’s prices against China, the growing trend of Chinese e -commerce manufacturers has marketed its goods at apps such as Tactics and its Chinese equivalent. MA says “Takk has been thanked recently.” People are starting to wonder if they can buy goods directly from China. “
Those viral videos, made by factories representatives who claim to make products for luxury goods, have been suggested that people can compete with prices by buying a standing version of similar products directly at DH Gate at low prices. As a result, the search for the last week increased, which resulted in the “China” exposing luxury brands. MA says “they always want to double in the B2C.
How does DHgate work?
Like almost every other shopping app, you find download, login and accessories – but you can also access the market through the company’s website. DH Gate has rated the products sold in groups by manufacturers, while you can also find specific items using a search bar in the top of the page. The search for “laptop” returns more than 73,000 results.
Many of these are non -branded items. Countless other identified people are the dope. According to its history as a Business to Business Retailer, you can get discounts to buy in bulk.
Like any online retail transactions, individual goods and sellers are able to examine individual items and classification studies for sellers: Degate is a market, not a self -provider. “This is not as good as it says on the tricktok videos,” MA says. “There are still many scammers, and there are many issues where people do not get the product for which they have paid.
Is it safe to buy from DH Gate?
There is no suggestion that buying items from DH Gate is a risk when it comes to collecting data: the platform is long and a recognized name, so your credit card details are unlikely to be less secure than any other Chinese e -commerce platform. The app also has a buyer protection program and is paid to the seller until the buyer recognizes the receipt of his order – it creates less likely to be scam.
Even if the goods you receive is another question. Prior to this month, DH Gate was known as “a prominent destination for the designer’s nose office”, as news organizations have already explained. In the past, Wired also called the DH Gate “one of the most established cleansers of China for counterfeiting.” In fact, if you buy fake goods at DH Gate, this may mean that you were purchased by customs before arriving at your home.
