The next generation of Android flagships isn’t too far off, and a fresh leak has revealed the names of some Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 powered premium devices. It appears that the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series might be the first to feature Qualcomm’s latest and greatest.
Xiaomi 16 Series Set to Launch Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 First
The new info arrives from known tipster Digital Chat Station (via NotebookCheck), who shared the details on Weibo. The Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi 16 Pro, and Xiaomi 16 Pro Max might be the first to debut this flagship Android chipset. This isn’t surprising considering the close relationship Xiaomi has had with Qualcomm. In the past, Xiaomi’s flagships have been the first to feature the newest Snapdragon 8 series processors.
A good example is the Xiaomi 15 lineup, which debuted in October 2024 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Pro Max is a brand new entry from the company. There have even been rumors of a compact Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini model, which could feature a huge 6,300mAh battery, wireless charging, and a periscope telephoto shooter.
Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed tip at the moment, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now. In related news, the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro are slated to get big camera upgrades. The brand is also making major changes in its product positioning with the Xiaomi 16 lineup overall.
