The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch has been around for a while now in Wi-Fi form, but a new version has just gone live boasting Z-Wave connectivity.
The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch with Z-Wave for ADT+, to give it its full meaty moniker, also – as the name suggests – plays nicely with the new ADT+ system, which launched in the middle of last year.
We’re told that it the first lock on the market to support the Z-Wave User Credential Command Class, allowing you to unlock and disarm your ADT+ security system with a fingerprint.
Part of the Z-Wave 800 Series, the new lock can also disarm or rearm your ADT+ security system at the same time, with no phone or PIN required.
The lock connects directly to the ADT+ Base, skipping the usual middlemen like third-party hubs or bridges, and enables features like fingerprint unlocking, keypad entry, app-based control, and Trusted Neighbor access.
The latter now works with fingerprints too, meaning your dog-sitter or neighbor can let themselves in securely, without needing a code or app.
The lock is part of a bigger update rolling out to the ADT+ app, version 3.6, which introduces a new Home & Away feature.
It uses geofencing to figure out when you’re home or not and can automatically adjust your system; think locking the door, arming security, adjusting lights or other smart home devices.
The updated app also brings a UI refresh with easier navigation and more logical placement of features, based on how customers actually use the app.
It $279.99, it’s not cheap, but if you’re already using ADT+ for home security, this lock makes a lot of sense.
